This picture would be "on the balcony of his Vienna apartment was taken", like Pamela says us ? :) In 1980 ? Friendly, Marie-Jeanne

Pamela- 04-04-2008

I have been reminded that Oskar did not have anything but a ground floor apartment so this was not taken on his balcony. I should have remembered. Although, in Triesen, he lived on the side of a mountain and would learn his lines for plays walking through mountains he was not comfortable with height in general. Still, where ever this photo was taken I would think it was in either '80 or '81. Before his tragic decline and the depth of his depression hit.

Many thanks Pamela. :) What was this problem he had with his knee ? Friendly, Marie-Jeanne

Pamela- 04-05-2008

I am not sure but I certainly sympathize no matter what was the problem. Both my knees are very bad along with most of my other joints and my spine has no disks left in it. Pain is no stranger to me. I think that Oskar stood the knee as long as he could (like most men) and only went to a doctor when "in extremis." He was most impressed by the doctor's expertise and how his knee was examined. I wish I had that doctor a few weeks ago the last time my bad knee was examined! After the examination I had my knee felt as though spikes had been pounded into it with a hammer. This exam was done by a person who had no knowledge of my degenerative arthritis and spine conditions. Fondly, Pam

My dear Pam, :) It's true that all doctors are not good doctors. With all my heart Pamela :)

Many thanks Luciana, :) It's very nice... I found a picture hidden in the other, it bears the mark of copyright, but it is also beautiful. He is wonderful on these pictures. He is very beautiful. His attitude is really that of a director. Not too sad : he has in him the love of art which lives in his thought and which appears on him as a matter of course. Luciana, thank you, I love these pictures ! Friendly, Marie-Jeanne

Does somebody knows about that interview in 1984 ? That´s what´s write about the pictures on the book. Thanks and good week to eveybody!! Luciana Friendly, Marie-Jeanne

Susanne- 04-22-2008

Hello Luchitamorello, there is an interview from 1979 (?) made by Werner Rosenberger at Café Eiles. It is on CD : "Unser Charakter ist unser Schicksal" Oskar Werner gibt sein letztes Interview. Later on, in 1984, few month before his death there was made an interview on video "Ich durfte am Tisch der Götter sitzen". It was recorded in his home in Trautsongasse. At that time he looked different, (thinner) from the pictures you have found on the internet. - I hope these informations can help you! - Greetings from Susanne
