Can someone please tell me...?
I asked this elsewhere, but no replied. Can someone please tell me where the seven part interview on YouTube took place? And...has anyone seen or know of a photo of Oskar standing in front of a van or truckload of flowers? Seems like I saw this picture before...but need to know if anyone else has seen it. Thanks in advance for your help.

Susanne- 07-19-2008

Hello Ms. Waldron, If you are thinking of part seven of the documentation "Ansichten eines Schauspielers": As I know, this interview was made in England, during shooting of Interlude. - I can't answer your second question. Greetings, Susanne

Ms. Waldron- 07-24-2008
Hi!
Susanne, thank you so much for your response. I just moved, and I finally have my internet back up...I appreciate your answering my questions...in part, anyway. Have a good day! Sandra

marie-jeanne- 07-25-2008

Hello Sandra, Do you understand what he said about Interlude and his director in the interview? The interview took place during the filming of Interlude, I confirm. During the interview (in several parts ("teil" on You Tube), he explains the differences in the work of the actor and that there are two kinds of actors, one that brings something from him (what it's in him to give to his character), and the one who he does nothing more than the demonstration, only put on him the skin of the character without to be this character. He explains many of his thougts about his work and his look (how he sees) the theater and cinema, the game of actors in front of a director, and also the difference between director in front of the actors. He speaks of the natural game for children, etc. In short, I can not make everything you translate, and yet it will bring a lot to understand. It's a pity, there is not enough solidarity among all to help translate and many develop what Oskar explains. I can not take time to do it for everybody and without me help others. This is a work that requires a lot of time, skills knowledge and understanding of the language and knowledge of art. So translate German in french and I have a friend who practice German and french, but then translated from french into English is enough ... If everyone gives him is good. But if only a few people devote themselves and for all, it is also too ... Each isolates herself too much and done nothing in common is there. The interview with Oskar is nothing personal about his private life. Seulment done on his professional life. This is important if several people are put together to save on this forum then what he says. I do not do alone because I do not want to be alone in doing so. That would be a sharing of participation. If not, too bad. Faulty translation or interpretation can be corrected together, but if everyone stays in his corner, everyone will stay with its mistakes and shortcomings. It is good to the small Poucet, put on the path to guide, but what would be laudable, it would really do a work, each of which can make its contribution to the "building", simply to allow everybody understand the art work of Oskar Oskar or what can pass by his interview the people who read about the work of the actor, maybe that can help new young players by his views. If what I just wrote annoys you, excuse me, forget it and I can erase it.

Ms. Waldron- 07-25-2008
Hi!
Thank you, Marie-Jeanne...for your great response. I do understand a great deal of what Oskar says...I have been studying his CDs, his voice and German for a while now. I do misunderstand some...but I eventually either ask, when confused, or figure it out for myself. You are NOT annoying in any sense. On the contrary...you were very helpful...and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

marie-jeanne- 07-26-2008

OK Sandra, :) But I would like to know if you can explain some stage, only to see if you understand what Oskar said. When he said "wunderbar, wunderbar Krauss!" What he tells? When he spokes of the child who plays and his natural instinct, it concerns what? When he talks about Krauss and Waldau, how to speak there, and what the word he used to define his thought? I don't want you tell me what he explains. A few words tell me if you understood. I hope the person or the persons who have helped you understand all the metaphors of Oskar and what he is talking about. It's important for you to understand because you want to write his biography. A single mistake would be fatal. Friendly,

Ms. Waldron- 07-26-2008
Hello!
Marie-Jeanne, I appreciate your concern for my "correctness"...however...I would NEVER attempt to write Osker's biography until I considered myself more than ready. I need to be not only more fluet in German...but in other things, as well...I want to learn all I can about him before I even attempt it. I take great pride in being a professional. Here is my Profile Page on Amazon...so you can take a look, if you wish. http://www.amazon.com/gp/pdp/profile/A3D6NK6W8SKB10/002-7287303-7561635 I do believe Osker was referring to Werner Krauss...and perhaps the word you were talking about is Eisberg? Which, of course, is iceberg...But, pershaps you are speaking of a different section in the films... I have observed a few more than once, but a couple only once...and I need to refresh myself on some of it...to see what you are speaking of...However, I just moved, and still have many things in boxes...so it may take me a while to get back to it and see what you are talking about...I do know that he is making comparisons through much of it between the stage and screen... And...the main person I look to for help is Austrian! Born in Vienna...So...I feel sure she knows what's she's talking about when she gives me advice. However, I thank you for your concern... Guten Tag! Und Danke! Sandra

marie-jeanne- 07-26-2008

Very well, Sandra... "I want to learn all I can about him before I even attempt it." I understand that, of course. "I take great pride in being a professional. Here is my Profile Page on Amazon ... so you can take a look, if you wish." I know your profile. I'm not impressed. If I were by you this would mean that I would be impressed with myself because I am myself also a professional writer. But you will not be able to read an extract or a back cover of one of my books for example because you do not understand the french. Then, for you I am nothing ! And for me, if I cannot read your books in english, like me : nothing ! "I do believe OSKER was referring to Werner Krauss ... and perhaps the word you were talking about is Eisberg? Which, of course, is iceberg ... But, pershaps you are speaking of a different section in the movies ... " Not iceberg. Are you sure about spelling of that person? You must find out more. But you don't say what Oskar explain in that part. In short, if you know, so much the better. "I have observed a few more than once, but a couple only once ... and I need to refresh myself on some of it ... to see what you are speaking of ... However, I just moved, and still have many things in boxes ... so it may take me a while to get back to it and see what you are talking about ... I do know that he is making comparisons through much of it between the stage and screen ... " Oh yes, and his words are very good when he says that. But still, much more than that. "And ... the main person I look to for help is Austrian! Born in Vienna ... So ... I feel sure she knows what's she's talking about when she gives me advice." Oskar would say you : "Oh, I see !" and then he would make you a large smile. And I say you : you're lucky. I also have my own: a friend Alsatian at the border and who fully understands the German and Austrian, the dialects because she was a translator and today she plays the theatre. It's like the auction: "Who says better!" It's not easy to take time at someone to translate the subtleties of a language and an author. For this we are hours of fun and expanding knowledge, it is an actress and that I am a writer. It is a very interesting relationship, probably as Oskar had with some writers. In short, what you are or what I am, is not a measure with a measure of length, in our country we call that "one meter standard." This is not interesting. I do not like to brag. Moreover, in his interview Oskar said quoting an author: "Do not boast, but acting." Excuse me, but the more one grows, the more one likes to make small to go unnoticed because we know that we have succeeded. Oskar did not like big cars, you know? It did not take the big head, as we say in France. Me neither, I'm like him. But I do not have a small car but several big, only for the space inside! I am surprised that you ask so many questions which shows your lack of knowledge about Oskar, if you are aided by an Austrian, knowing necessarily Oskar Werner. "However, I thank you for your concern ..." Sincerely, I should not like you make an error in your work. This is not a concern, but this is in the idea to encourage you to work really to know Oskar and in german. I think really what I say you. To know Oskar : you must give many time to him, and you must learn many things about his world (music, theatre, movies, autors, phylosophy, and his ideals, and his modesty et the modesty). You think I'm hard ? No, I'm realist, only. "Guten Tag! Und Danke!" I can answer in German, two words, three or fifties. I can answer in french too. But I did not want to play. I leave you to make your game. :) I will remain simple to continue in your language: good night, and thank you for your reply. I have wrong to think to help you me also. I am sure that you will spend you much of me. So forgive me if I no more answer to your questions, I know there is someone who will do it in the language of Oskar and your ability as a writer is probably better than mine. But you should never compare what you can't compare. :D What you write has nothing to do with what I write. These are two kinds to make any different. Fortunately that diversity exists because the world would be sad. I think that is idiot where two writers, in their different kind of writing, stand side by side without exchange on a subject wich them closer. All people are not kind like me. I thought you offer something, but I would not do because from the beginning I feel your reluctance. Too much mistrust on your part. Needless. You will not reveal anything that you learn on this interview, as if it were a secret an exclusivity, and I do not like that. Other people need to know. I think this interview must be made available to everyone, American, English, French, Spanish, Russian, Polish, and so on. There will therefore be someone who will translate and publish it and no matter whether the first or tenth place in that language. The mysteries were never given the knowledge nor the know. Many thanks, Sandra, really, for this moment, because in thinking about what you wrote, I have laughed in replying to you. You are very sweet ! Life is wunderbar! I wish you again a good night. But with all my sympathy and approval for carrying out this biography that you like. Friendly and best regards, :)

Ms. Waldron- 07-26-2008
Second attempt...
Marie_Jeanne, I responded...but it was lost, somehow. I merely wanted to show you that I take my work seriously...that was the reason for showing you my profile page...not to impress you. I've been writing for many years...and it's what I do. I take pride in it. Therefore, it stands to reason that I would not want to screw up Osker Werner's biography... You did ask me who I had to help me. I told you the simple truth...I merely answered your question... And...I AM just finishing up moving in my new apartment...I haven't had time to really sit down and listen intently to those seven clips...In order for me to understand some things I have to really focus...and I simply have not had time to do that...But I want to. So...sorry...I did not pass your -*test*-('")...Did you know Osker personally? You come across as though you did...Pamela has stated that she knew him...Did you, too? And...since I live in the USA...it is not easy for me to obtain a lot of things...I depend on my Austrian friend for a lot of the CDs and things that I have of Osker Werner's...They are simply not available over here...So...yes...it would be harder for me to learn things about him...And...sometimes I ask questions to veryify if I am correct or not...I want to make sure I am understanding fully... So...take care...and I know I'll never learn French ...so I'll never be reading your books, either.

marie-jeanne- 07-27-2008

Sandra, :) I do not doubt your serious. Work on your German. Never mind if you don't read me. I am not here for that, I am only there to discover Oskar and explain what I understood from him when I have time to do so. Learn french is very complicated, and to read me ask a good mastery of french because I use a lot of subtleties and metaphors. The subjects that I treat are difficult and requires a lot of reflection. I have banned the translation into a foreign language because words are not faithful from one language to another and do not always respect the idea. People who know Oskar and his life a little closer don't want to speak, out of respect for him. When you know someone and you understand, you don't tell, you don't go to talk about little things that are indiscretions, or it's better to do as if you do not know it at all. More I know Oskar, and more I understand things with the passing years, less I can talk comment il était personally. I can talk with you about his work, only. Even if you are a writer, precisely because you are a writer: there are things you can not put black on white on the paper. I am talking about those things that belong to this person, this would be like putting naked this person and steal his life a little. And do a book for Oskar is like making love to him or give him a baby with all your heart because you have so much love for him! :) So adorable... Friendly,

His life
I've never respected anyone more than Osker Werner. It is merely my desire to someday write his biography in English...as no one has done it, so far. And...if someone else does it first, that is okay too. But it would be nice to have the honor of being the first one to do so. It's as simple as that...I joined this forum because of my love and devotion to Osker...to learn and also help others learn, when possible...to share knowledge, etc. After all, I believe that is the whole purpose of this forum...to honor him and help keep his memory alive...And it has never even occurred to me to expose anything personal about him...even if I were to know him really well in that sense...I've known of him since I was sixteen...and I've never forgotten him. I am a grandmother now...and I still love him...I just want to share that with everyone...It's as simple as that...Have a good day!

marie-jeanne- 07-27-2008

Wonderful, Sandra. You will see it's funny what Oskar tells when he speaks about Werner Krauss, where he uses the word "wunderbar." I was going to tell you "wunderbar" rather than "wonderful". I do not know at what point on the forum you've already written. I remember very well, you say that, too. This will be good to put your participation with a book. Then, I shall buy your book. There are many years I wrote a book about a well known person in France and another again. But don't repeat anymore that you're a writer, we all know here. Unless you do a comparison of your art with that of Oskar, it's not necessary. Writing is what serves as a support for an interpretation and to make a comparaison is interesting. And we all know that you love Oskar, this forum is a place where people come for him and others who love him. Have a good evening, Friendly,

Ms. Waldron- 07-27-2008
Again...
Of course I know what wunderbar means...You didn't need to tell me. I am sure you mean well...And I am going to attribute it to language barrier...as the way you sometimes come across...For I would never dream of telling you how to do something or if you could do something...Or if I thought you qualified. Therefore, I expect the same repect from you. And I often post questions simply for the sake of keeping the forum going, for sometimes it is dead for days. And I would like to see it remain active. I want this forum to be positive...and caring and helpful...nothing more... And I wish you well in your endeavors...Good luck with your writings...Right now...I have other projects to keep me plenty busy for a long time.

marie-jeanne- 07-27-2008

Do as you wish with others. The forum wish to see you very often. The chance with my books is the work I'm able to do. Write is only a part on my life.

Ms. Waldron- 07-27-2008
Good wishes...
And we hope to see you as well. Take care...
